La Integral de la Cabra
La Integral de la Cabra is a non-competitive mountain cyclotourist ride organised by the Asociación Ciclista de Montaña rutasMTBmurcia, starting and finishing at the Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria in Sangonera la Verde. Every year it draws around 500 riders from different Spanish regions, attracted by one of the most demanding mountain routes near the city of Murcia.
An 80-kilometre route with 2,200 metres of elevation gain
The route runs over the main peaks, trails and tracks of the El Valle y Carrascoy Regional Park, accumulating 2,200 metres of elevation gain over 80 kilometres. As a non-competitive event, there is no official ranking: the goal is to complete the route while enjoying the mountain scenery surrounding the city of Murcia. With that much climbing packed into so few kilometres, it’s worth calculating your bike’s gear ratio beforehand to make sure your gearing matches the terrain.
The Green Bib, a ride with an environmental commitment
One of the hallmarks of La Integral de la Cabra is the so-called Green Bib: riders who make an additional voluntary contribution of 2 euros take part in a follow-up environmental activity in the El Valle y Carrascoy Regional Park, linking the sporting event with care for the natural surroundings it crosses.
Sangonera la Verde beyond the ride
Sangonera la Verde, a district of the municipality of Murcia, serves as the gateway to the El Valle y Carrascoy Regional Park, a mountain range right on the doorstep of the Murcian capital with trails, caves and viewpoints worth exploring beyond race day.
