RoadIntermediate

A cyclosportive with more than 35 editions organized by the Comarca del Maestrazgo, riding through the stone villages of the Teruel Maestrazgo between Cantavieja, La Iglesuela del Cid, Portell, Cinctorres, Forcall and Mirambel.

Cicloturista Maestrazgo

With more than 35 editions behind it, the Cicloturista Maestrazgo is one of the most veteran cyclosportives in inland Teruel. Organized by the Comarca del Maestrazgo, it starts in Cantavieja and rides through some of the best-preserved stone villages in the region, in an atmosphere of camaraderie that has kept the event alive for more than three decades.

An 80-kilometer route through the Teruel Maestrazgo

The route links Cantavieja with La Iglesuela del Cid, Portell, Cinctorres, Forcall and Mirambel, alternating flat sections and short climbs between walled villages. The decisive part of the event is a timed segment in Mirambel, where the day’s standings are decided. The route can vary from year to year due to roadworks or closures along the usual course, so it’s worth checking the official track before the start.

A village-to-village ride

Unlike big mountain gran fondos, the Cicloturista Maestrazgo feels more like a discovery route: every village along the way offers a stop and a feed station, and the atmosphere among riders feels closer to a group outing than a competition. It’s an especially recommendable event for those starting out in road cyclotourism or looking for an accessible distance with plenty of scenery.

The Maestrazgo beyond the ride

The Teruel Maestrazgo is one of the least populated and best-preserved regions of Aragón, with villages declared of historic-artistic interest such as Mirambel or Cantavieja, and a landscape of mountain ranges and forests that invites you to extend your stay beyond the event weekend.
