A single-route cyclosportive of 126 km organized by Sociedad Ciclista Biciclón, riding through La Rioja's most emblematic vineyard landscapes, starting and finishing in Logroño.

Cicloturista La Rioja

Organized by Sociedad Ciclista Biciclón, the Cicloturista La Rioja brings together hundreds of cyclists from across Spain every July for a single 126-kilometer route through the region’s most recognizable vineyard landscapes. Starting and finishing in Logroño, the ride combines sporting effort with wine tourism in one of the country’s most prestigious wine regions.

A 126-kilometer route through La Rioja’s vineyards

The route leaves Logroño and heads into the heart of Rioja wine country, passing through San Millán de la Cogolla —a World Heritage Site— and Sotés, home to two of the three official feed stations, before returning to the capital. With 1,222 meters of accumulated elevation gain, the route has no big climbs, but a string of ramps between wineries that demands well-managed effort.

Wine and cycling, hand in hand

Beyond the sporting challenge, the Cicloturista La Rioja has a strong wine-tourism component: each edition’s official jersey is inspired by the region’s vineyards, and many riders use the weekend to visit wineries near the route. It’s a particularly recommendable event for those who want to combine cyclotourism with Rioja’s gastronomy and wine.

Logroño beyond the ride

Logroño, the capital of La Rioja, offers one of Spain’s best tapas scenes on Calle Laurel, plus good high-speed rail connections to Madrid and northern Spain. Discover more events in the region in La Rioja.
