The Millars UCI Gran Fondo World Series

The Millars UCI Gran Fondo World Series is the standout road event on the UCI calendar in the Valencian Community. Starting and finishing in Castellón de la Plana, the race reaches its 4th edition in 2027, sharpening its international profile: a new OPEN category for riders not chasing qualification, handbike and tandem participation, and direct slots for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship (Thônes, French Alps) and the European Championship.

A 157-kilometre route

The course covers 157 km and 2,200 m of positive elevation through inland Castellón, chaining together some of the province’s most demanding climbs:

  • Sierra de Espadán
  • Salto del Caballo
  • Alt Millars

The profile mixes flat sections along the coast with technical climbs inland, typical of UCI-scored races where pace management from the opening peloton matters most.

A race with international reach

Being part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series sets The Millars apart from other cyclosportives: official timing, qualifying slots for the World and European Championships, and a field that draws riders from outside Spain chasing points. The new 2027 OPEN category opens the race to anyone who simply wants to enjoy the course without competitive pressure.

Castellón beyond the race

Castellón de la Plana combines a Mediterranean beach, El Grao’s dining scene, and an inland sierra reachable in under an hour by car, ideal for extending your stay before or after the race. Riders travelling from outside the Valencian Community can also explore other events in the area in our Valencian Community events section.
