Vielha Cycling Tour
Presented as “the new cyclosportive” in the heart of the Pyrenees, the Vielha Cycling Tour starts on Carrer dera Querimonia in Vielha, next to the parking area of the former military barracks, and rides legendary climbs of the Val d’Aran and the French Pyrenees that are a regular part of the Tour de France and Vuelta a España route.
A route with two distances
The event offers two options:
- 150K: the long route, with 3,700 meters of accumulated elevation gain, one of the most demanding profiles on the Catalan cyclosportive calendar
- 90K: a shorter version, with 2,680 meters of elevation gain, keeping some of the most iconic climbs
The cut-off control is set at 17:00 in Bossòst, and the organization partners with the Èm Aran foundation to promote amateur sport in the area.
Legendary climbs of professional cycling
The route crosses the Val d’Aran and into the French side of the Pyrenees over climbs that have been the scene of historic Tour de France stages. Riding these roads, usually reserved for the professional peloton, is the great appeal of this relatively young but already well-regarded event among mountain cyclosportive riders.
Vielha and the Val d’Aran beyond the ride
The Val d’Aran combines Pyrenean landscape, traditional Aranese architecture and its own cuisine, distinct from the rest of Catalonia. Using the July weekend to explore Vielha and its nearby villages rounds out the experience beyond the bike. Discover more events in the region in Catalonia.
